Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Acting Governor of Central Papua, Ribka Haluk, has called for stringent security measures at schools to prevent criminal activities and ensure safety.
In a statement on Sunday (21/7/2024), she emphasized the need for robust security following a recent fire at SD YPK Sion elementary school in Nabire. She urged schools to implement strict security protocols to avoid incidents like this in the future.
Acting Governor Ribka also highlighted the importance of reviving neighborhood security posts, locally known as pos kemanan keliling or pos kamling, to maintain community safety and order. She stressed that effective security is crucial to avoid disruptions in the educational process for students in Central Papua.
Following the fire, which destroyed five classrooms, a teachers’ room, the principal’s office, and a canteen on 18 July 2024, she announced plans to rebuild the damaged school facilities. She had visited the site immediately after the incident to assess the damage and address the situation.
