Inp.polri.go.id - Palu. The Central Sulawesi Regional Police deployed Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers to reinforce forest and land fire containment operations in Palu, Banggai, Tojo Una-Una, and Parigi Moutong on Tuesday (8/9/2026). 

Firefighters faced steep, hilly terrain and thick smoke that hindered road visibility while utilizing specialized equipment to contain the flames and perform cooling operations on dry vegetation.

"Joint efforts are ongoing to ensure the fires are controlled and prevented from spreading," said Central Sulawesi Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent. Achmad Muhaimin. "We are also actively monitoring potential fire hotspots."

Of the 73 hotspots detected across Central Sulawesi, authorities confirmed eight as active fires after ground verification. Chief Muhaimin urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could trigger blazes, such as land burning or discarding cigarette butts recklessly on dry vegetation.
