Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cianjur Sub-regional Police in West Java announced on Sunday (7/12/2025) that they do not recommend motorists use the Puncak II alternative route during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays due to safety concerns.
“Our survey found multiple landslide-prone cliffs, narrowed lanes, and damaged road surfaces that could endanger drivers,” said Cianjur Police Head of Traffic Police Assistant Senior Inspector Hardian Andrianto, as cited by antaranews.com.
A joint inspection with the transportation agency, disaster management office, and local public order police confirmed unresolved landslide risks and inadequate lighting along the route. Although several streetlights have been installed since early 2025, police noted that only about three units exist every two kilometers, making night travel unsafe for visitors unfamiliar with the area.
Police advised travelers to use the Jonggol route as an alternative if heavy congestion occurs on the main Puncak corridor. Authorities also urged motorists to stay alert on the primary Puncak–Cianjur and southern Cianjur routes, which remain vulnerable to landslides and falling trees during heavy rain.
