The Vice Director of Criminal Actions for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) at the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency, Senior Superintendent Enggar Pareanom, stated that cross-sector collaboration is key to providing effective protection to communities vulnerable to human trafficking (TPPO).
At the national meeting (PerNas) of the National Anti-Trafficking Network (JarNas APO) in Jakarta on Monday (7/27/2026), Enggar stated that law enforcement against TPPO continues to be strengthened at the regional level, and that TPPO task forces have been formed and need to be optimized in prevention and protection for victims.
"Collaboration is in place, the task force has been formed, and all parties are carrying out their respective main tasks and functions," said Enggar.
According to him, several regional task forces need to be further strengthened because the TPPO problem is increasingly complex, with numerous modus operandi and supported by sophisticated technology.
Consequently, these cases continue to occur despite prevention, enforcement, and education efforts.
"Regional task forces, such as those in the West Kalimantan, West Java, and East Java regions, are already strong. Other regions are not yet, and they need further strengthening, especially regarding victim protection," he said.
Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, Chairperson of JarNas APO, stated that combating human trafficking cannot be done in isolation because it crosses regional and national boundaries, employment sectors, and even physical and digital spaces.
"Perpetrators move quickly, changing recruitment patterns, changing communication methods, and exploiting people's hopes, poverty, ignorance, trust, and desire for a better life," she said.
Furthermore, she said, addressing human trafficking requires a vigilant public, organizations capable of providing support, institutions that protect, and the presence of the state.
To strengthen national collaboration in preventing and addressing human trafficking, JarNas APO signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian National Police (INP), the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and the Indonesian Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (KP2MI).
