The Chief of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police, Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan, emphasized that they will continue to strengthen their role in supporting the food self-sufficiency program, a national priority towards achieving 2045 Golden Indonesia, through collaboration with various stakeholders.
"Food self-sufficiency is a national priority program that must be supported together. Therefore, we continue to strengthen collaboration with the local government, the Indonesian Military (TNI), farmer groups, the business community, and all stakeholders to achieve food security in Central Kalimantan," he said.
He stated that cross-sector synergy is key to ensuring the food security program runs sustainably and provides tangible benefits to the community, especially farmers in Central Kalimantan.
From 2025 to 2026, the Central Kalimantan Regional Police harvested corn on 16,066 hectares of land, with a total production of 72,478 tons. This involved 242 farmer groups assisted by the police, comprising 2,687 farmers.
"This achievement is not just about production figures, but also proof that the collaboration between the police, the government, and the community can make a real contribution to strengthening national food security," he said.
The Central Kalimantan Regional Police also continue to promote various innovations in the agricultural sector so that the food self-sufficiency program does not stop at increasing harvest yields alone, but also increases added value and community welfare.
Various innovations have been developed, including intercropping corn on a 400-hectare oil palm plantation, developing animal feed made from corn harvests, and utilizing corn waste such as cobs, stalks, leaves, and husks as livestock feed with extended storage.
Furthermore, they are strengthening access to financing for farmers through a collaboration with Bank Himbara (State-Owned Enterprises) to distribute People's Business Credit (KUR) to 17 farmer groups, involving 44 farmers, with a total financing value of IDR 957 million.
The Central Kalimantan Regional Police also ensured that assistance to farmer groups will continue through coordination with relevant agencies, ranging from providing production facilities, increasing farmer capacity, to developing agricultural-based businesses.
