This success was announced by East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto and the press conference was held at East Java Police Headquarters.
Nanang emphasized that the disclosure of these cases demonstrates their commitment to maintaining security and public order throughout East Java.
"Throughout May 2026, we have ordered all levels, including the General Criminal Investigation Directorate and 39 police stations in East Java, to take swift action and uncover all crimes related to theft, robbery, motorcycles theft, and other street crimes that are causing public concern," said Nanang, Wednesday (6/3/2026).
According to him, the task force aims to apprehend perpetrators and criminal networks, reduce crime rates, and ensure security stability in East Java.
"Our main target is to apprehend perpetrators and syndicates involved in theft, robbery, motorcycle theft, and other street crimes, as well as the misuse of sharp weapons, firearms, and explosives that are causing public concern. We want to ensure that East Java remains safe and conducive," he emphasized.
From the results of operations conducted throughout May 2026, the East Java Regional Police and its officers successfully uncovered 320 cases, with a total of 319 suspects arrested.
Nanang explained that the suspects were charged under several articles depending on the type of crime they committed. For the theft case, the theft article in the Criminal Code carries a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
