inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital is preparing the AI Talent Factory program as an effort to develop new digital talent and accelerate the development of a national artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.

"What we are doing is strengthening collaboration between the government, industry players, universities, and communities to develop digital talent in Indonesia," explained Vice Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria on Tuesday (7/22/2025).

Nezar emphasized the importance of developing superior human resources in the AI field as part of the national agenda under President Prabowo's leadership.

He stated that this step is aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure and developing digital talent in accordance with Asta Cita (Asta Cita).

Furthermore, Nezar explained that there are currently 9.3 million digital talents in Indonesia, while the need is projected to reach 12 million by 2030.

Therefore, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology is finalizing the AI Talent Factory as a research- and industry-based digital talent development center to address the talent deficit of approximately 3 million.

"The AI Talent Factory program is expected to become an AI hub connecting digital talent with industry, and to address issues that can be solved by adopting AI in each sector," he said.

Talent trained through this program will be directed to be directly involved in national strategic projects, covering priority sectors such as health, education, financial services, and agriculture.

According to him, meeting the need for digital talent will have a direct impact on the growth of the national digital economy. Currently, Indonesia contributes 40 percent to the ASEAN region's digital economy.

In addition to human resource development, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology is also designing strategic policies to strengthen the national digital ecosystem, including infrastructure and regulations that are adaptive to AI developments.

"The government is currently preparing an AI Roadmap, and we also plan to propose a Presidential Regulation to implement AI technology for its development and use in various sectors," concluded Nezar.
