inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, explained the difference between national strategic programs and national strategic projects. While both are often abbreviated as PSN, their meanings are not the same.
"Regarding the terms national strategic programs and national strategic projects, they are different. Although they are sometimes abbreviated as PSN," he said at the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, as reported by RRI, Tuesday (7/22/2025).
The Minister of Home Affairs explained that the central government establishes national strategic projects through Presidential Decrees or Regulations. These projects include infrastructure such as roads, dams, and high-speed trains.
The government also includes projects in special economic zones in the list of national strategic projects. All of these projects must be supported by regional governments.
On the other hand, national strategic programs are flagship programs of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. These programs are listed in the president-elect's vision and mission document.
He also mentioned food and energy security as President Prabowo Subianto's main programs. The free nutritious meal program is also a national priority.
In closing, he stated that regional heads are obligated to implement national strategic programs. This obligation is stipulated in Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning regional government.
