Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patriasaid that his ministry has been investigating a potential data breach involving the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), in collaboration with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
“This investigation aims to verify the authenticity of the data breach claims,” he said on Monday (12/8/24).
Deputy Minister Nezar noted that data often claimed to be leaked on the dark web may not always be accurate.
Cybersecurity research institute CISSReC reported that hackers have claimed to obtain 4,759,218 rows of personal data from BKN.
The data includes names, birthdates, titles, civil servant candidates (CPNS) and civil servants dates of birth, their registration numbers, and more. The data, including both unencrypted and cryptographically processed information, is reportedly being sold for USD $10,000 (around Rp160 million).
