Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Ambon, Maluku, at 2.12 am on Tuesday (13/8/2024) with its epicenter in the sea, 317 kilometers deep, located at coordinates 5.55°S, 128.84°E, about 222 kilometers southeast of the city.

The tremor was also felt in South Buru, Maluku, which is 226 kilometers from the epicenter. 

According to preliminary reports from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), there is no tsunami risk associated with this earthquake.

Residents are advised to remain cautious and calm, avoiding panic fueled by unverified information, as reported by antaranews.com.
