inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs believes that utilizing local food ingredients for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program can stabilize prices while strengthening the national food ecosystem.

Nani Hendiarti, Deputy for Coordination of Affordability and Food Security at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, stated that efforts to maintain food stability are not only related to supply, but also to strengthening integrated governance.

"The raw food ingredients are sourced locally, which can firstly reduce prices. Because logistics costs are quite high, we can reduce them by a certain percentage if we source them from local food sources, and with local food, the ecosystem will be built," explained Nani on Monday (4/27/2026).

The government, Nani said, is preparing special technical guidelines to ensure a secure food supply for the MBG program by prioritizing local sources.

According to her, the use of local raw food ingredients is a key strategy because it can reduce logistics costs, which have historically contributed significantly to food prices. By utilizing production from surrounding areas, food prices are expected to be significantly reduced.

Furthermore, this approach is also expected to build a stronger and more sustainable food ecosystem. She said the supply chain will involve various parties, including farmers and fishermen, MSMEs, cooperatives, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP).

Furthermore, Nani stated that the government will encourage more thorough planning of raw material requirements, particularly for horticultural commodities. The government will also ensure that all implementation adheres to established governance regulations.

Previously, she stated that his office is currently drafting a Coordinating Ministerial Regulation (Permenko) for Food regarding the local raw material supply chain for the MBG Program.
