inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections supports the implementation of the free nutritious meal (MBG) program by involving inmates and the kitchen facilities of the Correctional Technical Implementation Unit that have met the standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene, one of which is the Sukamiskin Prison kitchen.
Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto said that the kitchen of the Sukamiskin Class I Prison, Bandung, is a pilot project for the utilization of correctional facilities for MBG program food packages.
In addition to meeting the standards of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Sukamiskin Prison kitchen has been operated by trained and certified inmates to support the implementation of the MBG program.
"This kitchen is a pilot project for the utilization of correctional facilities in supporting the MBG program, which produces around 3,444 portions of food every day to be distributed to 12 schools and five integrated health posts around Sukamiskin Prison without disrupting the internal consumption needs of inmates at Sukamiskin Prison itself," said Agus in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday (6/15/2025).
Agus also explained that currently, 469 kitchens in prisons and state detention centers in Indonesia have been certified as hygienic. On the other hand, 754 inmates have been certified or have participated in technical training in food preparation.
"Our hope for the future is that prisons and detention centers that have met these standards can support the MBG program in collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency in various regions of Indonesia," said Agus.
