inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Lestari Moerdijat, believes that the creative economy is one of Indonesia's opportunities to rise above global uncertainty.

"The creative economy, which relies on quality human resources, is one of this nation's opportunities to rise above the current global uncertainty," she said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/29/2026).

According to her, to create a creative ecosystem, it is necessary to develop a curriculum that is relevant to industry needs, improve the quality of teachers and infrastructure, and strengthen collaboration between the government, industry, and educational institutions.

However, Lestari sees a number of challenges remaining, such as limited education budgets, unequal access to education, and a culture that does not fully value vocational education.

Therefore, Lestari encourages the development of a harmonious education and economic sector to create the creative ecosystem needed for the development of the creative economy in Indonesia.

She stated that 59 percent of workers worldwide require new skills to meet the needs of cutting-edge industries, as reported in the latest Future of Jobs Report by the World Economic Forum.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the creative economy sector will employ 27.4 million workers by 2025, equivalent to 18.70 percent of the total working population. Furthermore, the creative economy's contribution to gross domestic product will reach IDR 1,611.2 trillion in 2024.

According to Lestari, this enormous potential must be immediately addressed with an adaptive education system capable of responding to shifting industry needs, along with a clear research and innovation roadmap.

"Joint action and strong collaboration from all relevant parties are essential in realizing a national creative ecosystem capable of driving economic growth in the country," she said.
