Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. A joint team from the Damai Cartenz Task Force and the Nabire Sub-regional Police completed a crime scene investigation (TKP) at the PT Kristalin security post in Legari, Central Papua, on Sunday.
The site was the target of a deadly attack by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) on Saturday, which left two people dead and several facilities torched.
"The investigation at Kilometer 38, Lagari Jaya Village, was conducted under tight security and concluded safely," said Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, the Head of Public Relations for Operasi Damai Cartenz, on Monday (23/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Two bodies recovered with severe burn injuries are currently undergoing identification and autopsy at RSUD Nabire hospital.
Investigators discovered a company vehicle with four bullet holes in the front. Based on the trajectory, the shots are suspected to have been fired from a distance of 50 to 100 meters. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire before spotting at least three armed individuals at the scene.
Nabire Police Chief Superintendent Samuel Tatiratu added that the total number of evacuees from the site has reached 198 people, including 26 Chinese workers. The evacuation covered both company employees and traditional gold miners operating along the Musairo River to prevent further hostage situations or casualties as security forces continue to monitor the area.
