Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State-owned PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara has agreed to postpone the procurement of 105,000 pickup trucks from India following a directive from the House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday (23/2/2026).
The decision halts the massive acquisition from Mahindra and Tata Motors, which was intended to support the Red and White Village Cooperative program across Indonesia.
"We will follow the guidance of the legislature and the government as we remain loyal to the interests of the state and the people," said Agrinas President Director Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, as cited by antaranews.com
The suspension follows concerns regarding domestic industrial capacity. DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad advised the delay while President Prabowo Subianto completes his overseas working visit, allowing for a thorough evaluation of local alternatives.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang previously emphasized that utilizing domestic manufacturers could generate Rp 27 trillion in economic impact, prompting a strategic shift toward empowering the national automotive sector.
