Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Peace Task Force on Saturday (12/4/2025) evacuated five bodies of gold panners murdered by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Bingki, a remote gold mining site in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains.

Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, the Damai Cartenz Task Force Head of Public Relations, said that the evacuation was carried out using a police helicopter. The bodies were transported to Dekai, the capital of Yahukimo Regency, and taken to RSUD Dekai Regional Hospital for identification.

The evacuation had to be conducted in two separate trips due to the terrain and logistics, according to antaranews.com.

Chief Yusuf noted that the killings occurred in multiple gold mining locations across Yahukimo and Pegunungan Bintang regencies. In Bintang Mountains, bodies were retrieved from Kawe and transported to Boven Digoel via motorboats.

Efforts are ongoing to retrieve additional victims from the remote mining sites attacked by KKB.
