Inp.polri.go.id - Jayawijaya. The Damai Cartenz Task Force, officers from the Asologaima Police Office and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) restored order in Asologaima District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains, following a gunfire incident near the local police station on Monday.
Approximately 10 gunshots were heard near the Asologaima Police Office at 6 am local time. In response, joint forces immediately heightened security and dispatched reinforcements from the Wamena Post to secure the perimeter. Initial checks confirmed no casualties or structural damage to the police facility.
On Tuesday (18/8/2026), the Law Enforcement Unit of the Damai Cartenz Task Force provided security as the Jayawijaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a crime scene investigation. Investigators recovered footprints and ten 5.56mm spent bullet casings near the suspected firing point.
"Our main priority is ensuring the safety of the public and our officers," said Head of the Damai Cartenz Task Force Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani.
Deputy Head Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga added that security patrols remain active to maintain public order and prevent follow-up disruptions in Jayawijaya.
