Inp.polri.go.id - Nabire. The Damai Cartenz Task Force recovered 559 caliber 5.56 mm shell casings alongside various rifle components inside a honai traditional hut hidden deep in the forests of Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua.
Head of Public Relations for the Damai Cartenz Task Force Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo said that the items were seized during a tactical sweep along the border area between Kulindigi Village and Bulage Village on Saturday (17/10/2026).
"The task force discovered a honai concealed by trees, foliage, and surrounding terrain in the middle of the forest. The site was allegedly utilized as a transit location or hideout for the KKB Kodap VIII Soanggama armed group," he explained.
In addition to the 559 spent cartridges, officers seized two disassembled rifle sets, one gunstock, one barrel, three manual air pumps, a karambit knife, a Morning Star flag, and various identity documents. Officers also secured ledgers documenting illegal ammunition trading transactions and electronic devices.
Following the initial crime scene investigation, task force personnel destroyed the structure to prevent its reuse as a guerrilla staging post.
Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani said that all seized items and documentation are undergoing rigorous examination to trace their origins in accordance with established legal procedures. Meanwhile, Damai Cartenz Task Force Deputy Head Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga urged local communities to report any suspicious insurgent movements to law enforcement, assuring full informant identity protection.
