Inp.polri.go.id - Nabire. The 2026 Damai Cartenz Task Force shot a wanted member of an armed criminal group (KKB) during a law enforcement operation in Wuyukwi Village, Puncak Jaya, on Monday. 

Head of Damai Cartenz Public Relations Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo confirmed on Tuesday (21/4/2026) that the suspect, identified by the initials O.E.who was on the most-wanted list (DPO) for the 2024 killing of a security officer, was shot after resisting arrest and attempting to flee.

"Targeted action was taken after personnel identified the suspect's location. During the arrest attempt, he resisted and tried to escape, leading to firm and measured action in accordance with procedures," he said, as cited by antaranews.com.

The suspect was evacuated to Mulia Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Suspect O.E. had been sought for his involvement in the March 2024 shooting of Sergeant Ismunandar in the Muara District.
