Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  The Damai Cartenz Task Force has deployed officers to track down an armed criminal group (KKB) responsible for burning several buildings in Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

“The arson targeted the Omukia District office and the private residence of Regent Elvis Tabuni. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” said Damai Cartenz Task Force Commander Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani on Tuesday (8/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The attack occurred on Sunday, and was captured via drone surveillance. The KKB falsely claimed the burned buildings were military posts.

“That’s deliberate propaganda to sway public opinion and justify acts of violence by accusing the government of using civilian facilities for military purposes,” Chief Faizal said.

Puncak Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Inspector Mardi Marpaung confirmed the area remains under control but cautioned officers to stay alert.

“The situation is relatively safe but still volatile. All personnel must remain on guard,” he said.
