Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari.  The Damai Cartenz Task Force is pursuing an armed criminal group (KKB) suspected of killing a civilian and injuring another in Deiyai District, Central Papua, on Monday.

“Victim La Kafi was found lying in Waghete II, Tigi District. He was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved,” said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, the Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force, on Tuesday (19/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Police reported a second victim, identified as 46-year-old Agus Hariono, was found critically injured near the BPJS office in Waghete and is receiving intensive care at the local hospital. Preliminary investigation points to the Nokai Deiyai faction  under the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB).

Authorities have deployed special units to track the suspects, vowing no impunity. Residents have been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate by providing information on the group’s movements. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
