Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has deployed its full roster of 40 athletes to compete at the 13th Asian Cup Woodball Championship 2025, hosted at JSI Resort, Bogor, West Java, from 19 to 25 August 2025.
“We are sending the maximum quota of 40 athletes. Our target is to become overall champion,” said Indonesian Woodball Federation (PB IWbA) chairman Aang Sunadji during the tournament’s opening on Tuesday night (19/8/2025), as quoted b y antaranews.com.
The championship brings together 213 athletes from nine countries, including Taiwan, China, South Korea, Iran, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, and host Indonesia. Competitions cover 14 senior events, seven youth categories, and eight matches under the 7th AICE Indonesia Open.
Indonesia is aiming to secure at least half of the 21 gold medals at stake, boosted by four months of intensive national training. The event also doubles as final selection for the national squad heading to the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, where woodball debuts as an official sport.
Woodball, a sport often described as a hybrid of golf and croquet, is played by striking a ball through gates using a mallet. It has grown rapidly across Asia and will debut as an official sport at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
