"The driver is suspected of having lost control of the vehicle, causing the accident," he said.
He said the truck first hit the vehicle in front of it, then crossed the median and went into the oncoming lane, hitting a water tanker and two motorcycles.
As a result of the incident, three people died at the scene. The truck then crossed the median again, hitting several houses and a motorcycle before finally coming to a stop.
Jauhar said the truck driver was trapped for several hours and died after being evacuated to the Pusdik Sabhara Porong Hospital in Sidoarjo, bringing the death toll to four.
In addition to the four fatalities, six others sustained injuries and have received medical treatment.
