inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin established the Kuala Task Force (Satgas Kuala) to accelerate post-disaster recovery in Aceh and North Sumatra.
"Today, we have formed the Kuala Task Force, consisting of two components," said the Minister of Defense on Friday (1/2/2025).
This task force will be tasked with dredging shallow rivers that have been silted up by land and utilizing their water flow for the needs of disaster victims.
"On these two ship components, we will upgrade the water treatment system. The water in the Kuala will be taken, processed, and produced clean water," the Minister explained.
He continued, explaining that the water purification system used by the Kuala Task Force has previously been used in several disaster-affected locations. This technology uses fiber-reinforced plastic as the main filtration tube and is designed for easy operation in the field.
The filtered water is then further processed using Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology to filter out very small particles, including dissolved salts and micro-contaminants.
The final stage involves ultraviolet (UV) irradiation to kill harmful bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms, ensuring the water is safe for public consumption.
Sjafrie also confirmed that this task force will operate as soon as possible to support the restoration of clean water facilities in disaster areas.
