Inp.polri.go.id - Cilacap. A joint search and rescue (SAR) team in Cilacap, Central Java, is racing to locate 21 missing residents after a deadly landslide struck Cibeunying Village on Thursday night.
“Rescue teams resumed evacuation and search efforts this morning. There are 21 residents unaccounted for,” Majenang village Chief Aji Pramono said on Friday (14/11/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The landslide hit Dusun Cibuyut and Tarukahan at around 8 pm on Thursday, affecting 28 residents. Two victims, identified as Julia (20) and Maya (15), were found dead, while five survivors were rescued. Heavy rain that had accumulated over several days is believed to have triggered the slope failure.
As many as 12 houses were destroyed and 16 others remain at risk as ground movement continues. Residents in danger zones have been evacuated. Search teams, facing unstable soil and steep terrain, are working manually to reach buried victims.
SAR Cilacap confirmed operations will continue until all missing persons are found.
