Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has urged schools nationwide to strengthen supervision of student pick-up and drop-off procedures following a rise in child kidnapping cases.
“Schools must ensure that those picking up students are truly family members, especially for early-grade primary and kindergarten children who rely on daily drop-off and pick-up,” he said after opening a national coordination meeting on digitalized learning in Tangerang on Thursday (13/11/2025), as cited by antaranews.com.
Minister Mu’ti called on schools to maintain complete data on authorized guardians and implement strict verification systems to prevent unauthorized individuals from approaching students. He also encouraged neighborhood-level vigilance, asking local neighborhood unit to build a stronger “culture of citizenship” where residents collectively watch over children playing in public spaces.
His warning comes after police rescued Bilqis, a four-year-old girl abducted in Makassar and later found in Jambi following an interprovincial search. Local authorities reminded parents to maintain close supervision to prevent similar cases.
