inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chairperson of Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute (DPP LDII) Chriswanto Santoso highlights the importance of living modestly amidst the budget cuts policy by the government.

According to him, the step must be taken along with the hard work in order to ensure that the public can remain productive amidst the current economic uncertainty.

“One of the economic uncertainty indications is the mass lay-off in industrial export-oriented factories. Since the end of 2024 to the first quarter of 2025, thousands of workers in Java Island have been laid off,” says Chriswanto on Sunday (3/9/2025).

On the other hand, the government had promised that they would open a new 15 million job opportunities through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program.

However, the program is currently not running optimally due to budget and operational issues.

“With this kind of situation that we are facing, people must be able to live modestly, to be living efficiently while stay working hard. This is also a concept of muzhid-mujhid in Islam,” explains Chriswanto.

He also said to those who were laid-off to face the situation patiently and believe in God's will. He advised them to continue to give their best efforts despite the dire situation.

On that occasion, he asked regional heads to optimize Regional Original Income (PAD) in order to face the budget efficiency policy.

According to him, PAD can be a savior without having to burden the lower class people who work in the informal sector.
