The Vice Chair of Commission III of Indonesian House of Representatives Rano Alfath appreciates the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit for uncovering the smuggling of hundreds of kilograms of meth from Malaysia to Aceh. He considers that INP is consistent and committed in enforcing the law.

“We do appreciate the quick response of the police in thwarting the smuggling of 192 kilograms of meth from Malaysia. This proves that INP remains consistent and serious in enforcing the law,” says Rano on Tuesday (4/15/2025).

However, Reno also notes that the investigation process must be carried out transparently and with accountability. Reno wants that the investigation process must not stop only at the surface level, but must go deep down to its roots.

“Also to seek who are the sponsors, the coordinators, and the involvement of state apparatus if there are any,” says Reno.

According to Rano, it is also important to ensure that the investigation process is carried out in an accountable and transparent manner, and is accompanied by tracing of criminal assets (asset tracing) to support efforts to impoverish drug dealers, as in the TPPU Law.

He considered the disclosure of this case as an achievement, but also a reminder that the threat of narcotics to this nation is still very real. According to him, Commission III of the DPR will continue to monitor and support the strengthening of the Polri institution within the framework of the supremacy of law and community protection.
