"Democracy can only grow if the public's space to express their opinions is maintained and people feel heard without fear," she said at the Language and Literature Dissemination Forum in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Sunday (8/31/2025).

According to her, the recent events are a painful reminder that the way the mandate holders in the DPR respond to the people's aspirations has major consequences for the life of the nation.

Therefore, Hetifah emphasized that this moment must be a catalyst for the DPR to be more open-minded and empathetic toward the people it represents. "It's time for us to be wiser and more empathetic in making public statements," she said.

Hetifah realized that an apology alone was not enough to restore public trust.

As a concrete step, this member of the DPR for the East Kalimantan electoral district is committed to continuing to push for the people's voice to truly receive the space it deserves in Parliament.

She also fully supports his faction's stance in following up on the people's aspirations, including regarding the evaluation of facilities, allowances, and budget expenditures that are considered excessive.

Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of a fair and transparent legal process for any incident that results in loss of life in the delivery of aspirations.
