inp.polri.go.id - East Kutai. The East Kutai Sub-regional Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Unit uncovered a drug crime in the Teluk Pandan District.
During the investigation, police arrested a man with dozens of packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 15.53 grams.
East Kutai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fauzan Arianto, stated that the case stemmed from public information regarding drug transactions on Poros Bontang-Samarinda street, Suka Damai Village.
The East Kutai Sub-regional Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Unit's Operational Team immediately conducted an intensive investigation.
"In the early hours of Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers successfully apprehended a man later identified as AWH (43), a resident of Tembilahan, Riau, who currently resides in North Sangatta," he explained on Wednesday (4/29/2026).
During the search, police found 32 clear plastic packages containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine, hidden in the suspect's pants pocket.
In addition to the methamphetamine, officers also seized several other pieces of evidence, including a cell phone, plastic wrap, duct tape, tissues, and several empty snack packages used to disguise the narcotics packages.
From the initial interrogation, he said, the suspect admitted to obtaining the illicit goods from an individual known as F through a tracking system in Samarinda City.
Fauzan emphasized that this disclosure demonstrates the police's commitment to eradicating narcotics trafficking in their jurisdiction.
"This disclosure is the result of the hard work of our officers in the field and the active role of the public in providing information. We will not give any room for drug traffickers in East Kutai," said Fauzan.
He further added that his team will continue to investigate this case to uncover a wider network. Currently, the suspect and all evidence have been secured at the East Kutai Sub-regional Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.
