inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate stated that the four-wheeled vehicle that crashed into the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout pool was caused by the driver's carelessness.
The Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, Superintendent Ojo Ruslani, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, explained that the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m.
"The vehicle, with license plate number B-1276-UNT, was driven by a man with the initials KJS (22)," he said.
Ojo explained that the incident began when the vehicle was traveling north on MH Thamrin boulevard in Central Jakarta.
"Upon arriving at the scene, precisely at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, it is suspected that due to carelessness, the driver hit the road divider, then bounced off and plunged into the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout pool," he said.
Ojo added that the driver was an online taxi driver who had only been driving the car for three months.
Furthermore, an inspection revealed no indication of alcohol in the driver's body.
"The vehicle was traveling at approximately 60-70 km/h. There were no fatalities, only damage to the front of the car and the sidewalk. The vehicle and driver were taken to the Sub-Directorate of Law Enforcement of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for examination," he said.
Ojo also added that the driver was charged under Article 310 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ), which stipulates criminal sanctions for drivers whose negligence causes accidents.
