Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police have uncovered 1,443 criminal cases and arrested 1,135 suspects during “Operation Sikat Semeru 2025,” a province-wide crackdown conducted from22 October to 2 November 2025.
The operation targeted various offenses ranging from theft to illegal firearms possession.
“The results of Operation Sikat Semeru 2025 are significant. In 12 days, we exposed 1,443 cases with 1,135 suspects,” said East Java Police Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Widi Atmoko, during a press briefing on Wednesday (5/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Of the total, 270 were target operations involving 276 suspects, while 1,173 were non-target cases with 859 suspects. The offenses included aggravated theft, armed robbery, vehicle theft, street crime, and arms violations.
Police seized cash worth around Rp75 million, 316 motorbikes, 34 cars, six trucks, weapons, ammunition, explosives, and even 231 animals. Authorities said the operation aimed to suppress street crimes and improve public safety ahead of the year-end holiday season.
