Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police are investigating the cause of a deadly collision involving the Bangunkarta train and a car with two motorcycles in Prambanan, Sleman, on Tuesday. 

The incident occurred between Brambanan and Maguwo stations, killing several motorists and damaging vehicles.

“The case is under investigation, carried out jointly with PT KAI,” said Yogyakarta Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ihsan on Wednesday (5/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

Witnesses told police they heard a loud crash as the train passed the crossing, where an orange car was later found wrecked. 

“A witness said one of the crossing gates on the north side was not closed when the train passed,” Chief Ihsan added.

The police have questioned several witnesses but have not drawn conclusions regarding possible negligence. State railway company PT KAI’s spokesperson Feni Novida Saragih confirmed the crossing guard had been temporarily suspended pending investigation.
