Inp.polri.go.id - Malang. East Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Nanang Avianto, confirmed that the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations across East Java remained secure and orderly on Tuesday (17/2/2026).
During a security sweep at the Eng An Kiong Temple in Malang, he noted that comprehensive security mechanisms were successfully deployed without any reported disturbances. Operations were coordinated through the Regional Police Operations Bureau to ensure maximum coverage at all major places of worship.
"We have monitored sites from Surabaya to Malang, and local police chiefs have executed their security plans exceptionally well," Inspector General Avianto said, as cited by antaranews.com.
In Malang alone, 125 officers were stationed to manage crowds and traffic as worshippers gathered for traditional rituals. The Chief attributed the day’s success to high public tolerance and proactive policing.
