Inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Minister of Transmigration Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara reported that Rempang Island in Batam remains peaceful and secure as it transitions into a modern transmigration pilot project.
Speaking in Batam this Tuesday (17/2/2026), he highlighted that the stable atmosphere over the past year has successfully fostered a favorable investment climate. The government aims to transform the area into a self-sustaining economic hub rather than a mere resettlement zone.
"The situation has trended toward a peaceful environment for the last year, creating a comfortable investment climate for everyone involved," Minister Sulaimain said, asa cited by antaranews.com.
To support local livelihoods, the ministry has distributed 16 fishing vessels to residents, ensuring continued income after relocation. The project focuses on comprehensive infrastructure, including educational facilities, healthcare, and markets, to drive sustainable regional growth.
