Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The Food Task Force under the East Java Police launched an investigation into the sale of premium rice exceeding the maximum retail price following an unannounced inspection at Pucang Market in Surabaya.

Led by East Java Police Special Crime Investigation Director and Food Task Force Head Senior Superintendent Dodi Ruyatman, the inspection verified local grain supplies and addressed public reports of price spikes and localized premium rice shortages.

"While overall supply remains stable, field checks confirmed that specific premium rice brands are being sold above the regulated price ceiling," he said on Monday (7/9/2026). "We are tracing the entire distribution supply chain to determine where price markups occurred before reaching vendors."

The task force reinforced monitoring across retail networks to prevent fraudulent practices, such as repackaging medium-grade rice into premium packaging or market speculation. Inspection teams also confirmed that distribution of the government's Minyakita cooking oil remains steady at the regulated price of Rp 15,700 per liter.
