Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya.  East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto has ordered all police officers to conduct a comprehensive inspection and data collection on Islamic boarding school buildings to prevent another tragedy like the Al Khoziny collapse in Sidoarjo.

“Public and student safety is our top priority. Many pesantren buildings were found below construction standards, and this is deeply concerning,” he said on Wednesday night (8/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Chief Nanang added that police will coordinate with local administrations, and technical experts to conduct building safety assessments. Unsafe facilities may face repairs or temporary closure.

Chief Nanang also stressed legal accountability for those whose negligence led to the disaster.

“Everyone is equal before the law. Anyone proven responsible will face justice,” he asserted.

Authorities reported 165 victims from the collapse, including 67 deaths.
