“The case has been taken over by the East Jave Regional Police last Friday,” says the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of East Java Police, Grand Commissioner Farman, quoted from Antaranews on Wednesday (9/27/2023).
Farman says there are several reasons why East Java police taking over the case with the main reason of the wide impact the wildfire caused to the region.
“Our reason in intensifying the investigation of this case is because of how wide the impact it gave upon this land and has caused a huge loss. We also aim to better our case handling for the future, and that’s why we took the case,” said Farman.
Up until now, the investigators have held an open session for this case in East Java Police. In their effort investigating the case thoroughly, East Java police involves the investigators from Probolinggo Sub-Regional Police.
Previously, the wildfire began with a group of people taking a pre-wedding shot in savanna or Teletubbies Hill. Their shot concept involves a flare which the embers caused the dry grass burned and then quickly spreads across.
Police has determined Andrie Wibowo Eka Wardhana (41) from Lumajang as the guilty. He is the manager and the one who is responsible for the wedding organizer. Meanwhile, the other five individuals that have been secured are still considered as witnesses, which includes the wedding couples.
