Inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Riau Islands Regioinal Police has sent back 200 officers from Riau Regional Police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit, previously deployed for enhancing security during Rempang Island protests under a special operation .
Senior Superintendent Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, Head of Public Relations at the Riau Islands Regional Police, confirmed that this move aligned with President Joko Widodo's humane approach directive for addressing Rempang Island issues.
"While some police remain near Rempang Island to reassure the public, their presence is not meant to intimidate," Arsyad was quoted by antaranews.com as saying.
These 200 well-trained officers were deployed to support security during protests within the Riau Islands Regional Police's jurisdiction.
The Riau Regional Police's Mobile Brigade Unit had sent 200 well-trained officers to Rempang Island on September 14, 2023, to support security during protests under a special operation. Commander Ronny Lumban Gaol emphasized the importance of upholding the unit's honor, prioritizing community protection, and maintaining the police force's positive image to the deployed officers.
