Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police confirmed that a full legal investigation will proceed following the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic boarding school in Buduran, Sidoarjo, which claimed dozens of lives. 

The statement came after the completion of victim recovery operations and ongoing identification efforts.

“The Jawa Timur  Police has made it clear,  we will pursue the legal process,” said East Java Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Pol Jules Abraham Abast on Tuesday night (7/10/2025). “We ask the public and victims’ families to remain patient and allow our DVI team to complete the identification process properly.”

He confirmed that the search and rescue mission had concluded under the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) supervision, while forensic and structural assessments are ongoing. Investigators have begun collecting samples of steel reinforcements and concrete to determine the cause of the building failure.
