Inp.polri.go.id - Lebak. Foreign tourists are now prohibited from entering Badui Dalam and Gajeboh Villages in Lebak Regency, Banten, following a formal decision by the local customary institution.
The restriction aims to preserve the sanctity of traditional areas and respect long-standing Badui customs.
“The customary council has decided that foreign tourists are not allowed to visit Badui Dalam or Gajeboh,” said Medi, the Secretary of Kanekes Village in Leuwidamar District, on Tuesday (7/10/2025). “We’ve issued a circular to ensure all visitors comply with this rule.”
He added that while foreign tourists may no longer enter these inner Badui areas, they are still welcome to visit Badui Luar, which consists of 61 surrounding villages. He emphasized that only local Badui guides are permitted to accompany visitors to ensure adherence to traditional restrictions, including photography bans.
Local authorities and the Lebak Tourism Office expressed full support for the decision, calling it vital to protecting Badui cultural heritage, according to antaranews.com.
