Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, also known as Eddy Hiariej, appeared before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday (4/12/23) as a witness in a corruption investigation in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Previously, KPK investigators had officially named Edward Hiariej as a suspect around late October 2023. "Yes, we signed the designation of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights as a suspect about two weeks ago," said Alexander Marwata, Deputy Chairman of the KPK. Alexander revealed that KPK had also identified four other suspects in the ongoing corruption investigation, with three on the receiving end and one being the alleged giver. In early December 2023, the Ministry of State Secretariat received a notification letter regarding the suspect designation of Edward Hiariej.
