Inp.polri.go.id - Garut.  The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has dispatched a team to investigate the death of a high school student in Garut, West Java, following reports the student died by suicide.

“We’ve sent a team from the Ministry’s Inspectorate General to examine the case thoroughly,” said Deputy Minister Fajar Riza Ul Haq during a visit to the victim’s family in Garut on Wednesday (16/7/2025).

The ministry also evaluated the effectiveness of the School Violence Prevention and Response Team (TPPK) and is reviewing ongoing investigations. Local authorities, including Garut’s Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA), had previously handled the case.

Fajar urged schools to provide safe, supportive environments, free of bullying or violence. He also called on the public to refrain from speculation and respect the family’s grief.

The student, a tenth grader, was found dead on 14 July 2025. The case drew widespread attention after social media posts alleged school bullying.
