Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Damai Cartenz Task Force have arrested eight suspected members of an armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua Mountains over a deadly March 2025 attack that killed a teacher and injured six others in Anggruk, Yahukimo district.
“The Damai Cartenz Task Force will continue to take firm action and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadani, who leads operations, on Friday (11/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The suspects, arrested on Friday in Dekai, are believed to be part of the Eden Sawi Yali Battalion, led by Ohion Helembo (alias Bapa Simpan), a local commander affiliated with the insurgent network of Elkius Kobak.
Three suspects, identified as AP, DH, and NS, have been formally named, while the remaining five are under investigation.
The 21 March 2025 attack targeted teachers and health workers, highlighting ongoing insecurity in remote areas of Papua.
Authorities said the suspects are being interrogated, with further arrests possible as investigations expand.
