Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia's future Hajj and Umrah operations will be managed entirely by the newly formed Hajj Organizing Body (BP Haji), pending the passage of a revised Hajj bill into law in the House of Representatives.
“We are waiting for a comprehensive legal basis. The bill is under deliberation in the DPR,” said presidential spokesperson and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi on Friday (11/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com
Currently, the Ministry of Religious Affairs oversees Hajj operations, but starting 2026 , responsibilities are expected to shift to BP Haji, in line with the government's reform plan under President Prabowo Subianto.
BP Haji was established in 2025 and is already working closely with the Ministry to manage Hajj 2025. Its head, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, has said that the agency is ready to evolve into a Ministry of Hajj and Umrah by 2026.
