inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters are targeting 10,000 journalists to take the Journalist Competency Test (UKW) to improve the quality of human resources for the press in Indonesia.

"We (PWI) will collaborate with the INP to jointly improve the quality of human resources, specifically for our journalists, by conducting a joint competency test. A memorandum of understanding will be signed soon," explained PWI Chairman Akhmad Munir on Thursday (5/21/2026).

Munir stated that the program is currently being implemented by the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, involving approximately 100 journalists in the region. 

He stated that PWI and the INP will hold a follow-up meeting on Friday (5/22/2026) to ensure the program's implementation runs according to plan.

He added that all funding for the UKW under this collaborative program will come from the police budget. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the competence and professionalism of journalists in Indonesia will further improve.

Furthermore, this collaboration also emphasizes the importance of protecting journalistic work.

"The competency test will be implemented in stages based on the needs of each region. In the future, each region plans to allocate its quota," added General Chairman Munir.
