The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) appreciated the proactive efforts of the Indonesian National Police (INP) in aiding the community on vulnerable routes during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. Situbondo, located in East Java, stood out as one of the routes where swift anticipatory measures were implemented.

Kompolnas Commissioner Poengky Indrawati further elucidated that in Situbondo, where a significant portion of the roads traverses through forests, instances of vehicles with punctured tires are common.

During a press conference on Sunday (14/5/23), she mentioned that police officers in Situbondo are providing tire repair services. She emphasized that if flat tires are not promptly attended to by the police, it will inevitably result in traffic congestion. It is commendable that the police are actively engaged in offering tire repairs and fuel assistance.

In relation to the assessment of this year's homecoming security, she expressed her hope for the INP to further enhance their preemptive and preventive measures. The upcoming homecoming in the following year is anticipated to pose even greater challenges due to its alignment with the 2024 elections.

"The community is well aware of the humane approach adopted by the INP. By engaging in preemptive and preventive measures, in close collaboration with various ministries and institutions, the security of next year's homecoming will be greatly bolstered. As the next year coincides with a significant political event, the more humane and compassionate the approach, the higher the level of security in Indonesia will be, ultimately leading to an improved society," she explained.
