inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, emphasized that digital transformation through Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) is a crucial step in ensuring traffic safety and order. However, a humane approach remains a priority in building relationships with the public, including the online motorcycle taxi community.

This was conveyed by Agus during an audience with representatives of the online motorcycle taxi driver community at the National Police Traffic Corps (NTMC) building in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 2nd.

According to him, ETLE is a necessity amidst technological developments and the need for more modern and transparent traffic oversight.

"We are making technological leaps to be able to monitor the public and road users," noted Agus.

However, he emphasized that the main goal of the police is not to raise the enforcement against traffic violations. Instead, they want to raise public awareness and encourage voluntary traffic compliance.

"From now on, if possible, no one will be ticketed. We want our smiles alone to bring order to the streets." he said.

Agus stated that the current paradigm of traffic services has changed. While previously the approach was primarily law enforcement, the Traffic Police now prioritize communication, education, and public service.

"We will never be proud of enforcing the law. We are proud if we can foster camaraderie, communicate, and ensure order in the community," he said.

In addition to strengthening ETLE, the Traffic Corps is also preparing a faster communication system with the motorcycle taxi community by developing a dedicated application.

Through a combination of ETLE's digital transformation and a humanistic approach, Traffic Corps hopes to reduce the number of traffic violations and accidents while strengthening partnerships with motorcycle taxi communities throughout Indonesia.
