inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Artificial intelligence (AI) practitioner, Kun Wardana, suggested that the government form a "National AI Ethics Council". According to him, the council will act as an institution that can anticipate potential crimes using AI.
In addition, he said that the council will also help develop Indonesia's AI potential. So that Indonesia will not only be a consumer of foreign AI, but can develop AI that is in accordance with the character of the nation.
"In the council, they can formulate how to develop AI by incorporating the values of Pancasila and national culture. In addition, the institution can also formulate laws and regulations that are in accordance with the rapid development of AI," he said, as reported by RRI on Wednesday (6/11/2025).
Kun noted that the existing laws and regulations of Indonesia are still unable to keep up with the development of AI. Therefore, a special institution such as the National AI Ethics Council is needed.
He said that this institution must involve various groups and not only the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), but also include experts, including AI practitioners.
On the other hand, Kun also appreciated the government's efforts in currently compiling a national AI roadmap. According to him, the roadmap to be launched in August 2025 must be able to accommodate all aspects related to AI.
