inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. A massive fire engulfed the Police Dormitory complex behind the Jambi Regional Police Headquarters, located at Jenderal Sudirman street No. 45, Tambak Sari Village, Jambi City, on Thursday (7/30/2026) at around 11:00 a.m.

Observations on the ground revealed that eight houses in the dormitory were completely destroyed, with the flames spreading rapidly due to strong winds, destroying most of the buildings, which were permanent residences.

The incident immediately attracted the attention of residents and road users. Thick, black smoke could be seen billowing from the scene.

Residents of the police dormitory and nearby residents appeared panicked and tried to salvage any valuables they had managed to salvage.

Several fire trucks from Jambi City, along with police personnel, were immediately deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire. Officers worked hard to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes.

The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown. Police are still collecting data on the affected homes and investigating the cause of the fire.

The incident caused crowds of residents to watch the firefighting operation, resulting in traffic congestion along Jenderal Sudirman street.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Erlan Munaji, stated that his team would immediately investigate the cause of the fire.

"The fire was successfully extinguished by the Jambi City Fire Department with the support of one water canon truck from the Jambi Regional Police Mobile Brigade," he said.
